Yusif Mansur oghlu Sheykhov (b. February 2, 1951) — Azerbaijani screenwriter, Honored Cultural Worker of Azerbaijan (2000), sector manager of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2018-2021, he worked as a senior specialist at the State Film Fund.  Yusif Sheykhov was born on February 2, 1951 in Baku. He graduated from high school number 23 here. He studied at the Petrochemical Institute for two years (1969-1970), and at the Directing faculty of the Art Institute in 1970-1975.  When Yusif Sheykhov was famous at the age of 13, he played the role of a pioneer Eldar in the movie Sehrli khalat. Later, he worked at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio, and in 1979-1985, he worked in various positions at the State Cinematography Committee. In 1985-1989, he worked as the manager of "Azerkinoprokat" department. In 1990-2001, he worked as the deputy general director of "Azerkinovideo" union. His love for cinema started from his childhood - after he appeared in an episodic role in the film "I will dance" and one of the main roles in the film "The Magic Robe". He is the screenwriter of several documentaries ("Gobustan", "Portrait. Tokay Mammadov", "Prayer", etc.), animation ("Golden", "Dog Exhibition"), as well as the feature film "The Future Left Behind". He wrote stories for "Mozalan" film magazine: "Tawba", "Halal" and others.  On December 18, 2000, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Cultural Worker of Azerbaijan for his services to the development of Azerbaijani cinematography.

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
