Hijo del payaso Emilio Aragón Foureaux y de la acróbata ecuestre Rocío Bermúdez Contreras, pertenecía a una familia de larga tradición en el mundo del circo. Era sobrino del dúo de payasos Pompoff y Thedy. Con esos antecedentes, él mismo, junto a su hermano Alfonso Fofó, a los que pronto se uniría el tercer hermano Emilio Miliki, comenzó su carrera artística cuando todavía era un adolescente durante la Guerra Civil Española, actuando en lugares como el London Bar de Barcelona o el Café Victoria de Madrid. A veces actuaron con su hermana Rocío Aragón Bermúdez, bailaora de flamenco.4 También tiene dos hermanas más por parte de padre, Elena y Concepción Aragón Hijón. En 1946 emigró a América con sus hermanos, y allí triunfó en la televisión, primero en Cuba y a partir de 1970 en Argentina. En 1972 los tres hermanos regresan a España y en 1973 se estrena su programa en Televisión española El Gran Circo de TVE, que se mantiene en pantalla hasta 1983, cosechando un enorme éxito. Después de la retirada del programa, Miliki en 1984 salió del grupo y Gabriel Aragón continuó actuando con sus sobrinos Fofito y Rody hasta 1985. Más adelante formó con cinco de sus diez hijos el Grupo de payasos Los Gabytos, con los que siguió trabajando entre 1987 y 1993, a menos de un año de su fallecimiento. Fue enterrado en el cementerio de Pozuelo de Alarcón.

Data are -- hey, it's a plural -- subject to the limitations of their sources. (For example, TMDB search results currently max out at 20.) I am limiting myself to free data sources for now. (No, a "free trial" is not free.)

While much of the above data are retrieved directly from outside APIs and other such sources, data from American Film Institute (AFI) and British Film Institute (BFI) were manually entered the old fashioned way into a MySQL database. Re BFI I took the following liberties:

  • I added "runners up" to Top 10 lists, treating them as ties where applicable and numbering them accordingly at the bottom of each list.
  • Regarding those polls wherein "franchise" movies were submitted as one project until BFI's policy changed to regard them separately, I treated them as ties and renumbered the affected lists accordingly (e.g. the Godfather films).

Regarding profile removals and data corrections:

Filtering is applied here to film projects flagged as "adult" by TheMovieDB. Pending "popular demand" I am contemplating a login and profile system with preferences (such as whether to allow adult images to appear) and permissions (such as data entry).

Whereas the overall purpose of this website is to serve as a personal demo/portfolio/workshop of web and data skills, this Movies section is not meant to compete with or substitute for far more definitive movie websites.
