Overview from Open Movies

Derek Jarman said that he considered himself a painter more than a film maker and that the camera was just a new kind of brush. This film shows that sentiment. As a narrative film it isn't much, but viewed as a moving still life of a crumbling barn, a beautiful day and and a handsome young man, this film is well worth the time that it takes to view. The images are very well thought out, the textures and details of the barn and the light of the day are well depicted and the young man is compellingly good-looking. A lot of Jarman's later style can be seen in this piece.This film is NOT for everyone but if you are a Jarman fan and are curious about his earlier work, this piece is one of his better early efforts.
